Since the FDA & the IRS consider this product a "component of a final medical device," it is subject to the 2.3% "Medical Device Tax" under the new "Affordable Care Act" signed into law by President Obama in 2010. This tax is automatically added at checkout. Because we want to be transparent with our customers, we did not want to bury this tax in our prices, and instead show it as a separate line item.
